Phacoemulsification and foldable lens implantation represents the finest technique in ophthalmology which is now universally relevant. It provides for the best results. The operating Rooms are equipped with the Millennium cataract and vitrectomy system and the Leica and Zeiss Visu 160 microscopes. |

| The Institute is a leader in Glaucoma care in the country. It provides for medical management, laser management and surgical management for glaucoma. It is a pioneer in the understanding and use of newer medication. The institute has a wealth of experience in the surgery of trabeculectomy with mitomycin-C. The glaucoma unit serves as a referral center for Central India glaucoma patients. The technology includes, high quality slit lamps, gonioscopes, applanation tonometers, pachymeter, YAG laser and Heidelberg Retinal Tomography. |

| Glaucoma Patient Group |
| The Glaucoma patient group has been started. Two meetings are held every year. Patients have a chance to interact with each other and share their feelings and experiences. This is an important initiative and we will continue to build up a good foundation for the patient groups. Glaucoma patients who would like to become a member of this group may write to surajeye_ngp@sancharnet.in or vinaynangia@eth.net for membership. |

| The institute provides high quality eye care for patients with diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, macular diseases, Eales Disease and for patients with retinal detachment. The Retina department is well equipped with Digital Fundus Photography, Fluorescein angiography, Laser unit, operating microscope with wide field system, millennium vitrectomy system and vitrectomy instrumentation. |

| Eye Bank |
| The Eye bank was started in 2005. The infrastructure has already been established. Corneal transplantation has begun at the Suraj Eye Institute. The first graft was performed on May 9th, 2006 on a 75 year old community patient, who was specially brought from the village to the institute by the community social workers, using the hospital vehicle, when the cornea became available. |
