The Suraj Eye Institute is run as a non profit foundation under the aegis of Om Drishti Trust in Nagpur India. It was inaugurated in 2002 by Dr. SS. Badrinath, Chairman Sankara Nethralaya, and Dr. Mrs. Vasanthi Badrinath. The Institute is located in Nagpur, a city of 3 million. Nagpur is well connected by rail, road and air. It is easily accessible to all parts of the country. |
The Institute has modern infrastructure that meets the requirement of a quality eye center. The Institute was founded by Dr. Vinay Nangia, who has a rich and diverse background.
Dr. Vinay Nangia: Having studied medicine in Nagpur. He trained at Sankara Nethralaya and joined as a consultant vitreo-retinal surgeon. Thereafter he proceeded to the United Kingdom, where he worked at Manchester and Aberdeen Universities. He was elected to the Royal College of Surgeons and became a Fellow. He was invited for a fellowship in Glaucoma at the New England Eye Center and Harvard University in Boston, USA. Wanting to set up an eye care institute he returned back to India with a mission to give back to the community and to set high professional standards in quality of care and science. He practices glaucoma, phacoemulsification and retina. Dr. Nangia is a skilled clinician and surgeon. He has conducted several courses over many years at the All India Ophthalmic Society. |
