| The glaucoma fellowship program is one of the most prestigious glaucoma fellowship available. It is an intensive program, to train future leaders in the field of glaucoma. The fellowship offers high quality clinical and surgical training and expertise in all areas. Diagnostic skills and the use and interpretation of standard and newer instrumentation, including retinal imaging are core strength of this fellowship. The fellow is expected to have an academic inclination and will be supported in research initiatives and will be encoutaged to publish papers. |

| Cataract Surgery |
| The field of cataract has undergone rapid advances with the advent of phacoemulsification. Cataract continues to be the leading cause of visual disability in this part of the world. The speciality fellowship will provide clinical and surgical training in cataract surgery with emphasis on phacoemulsification and newer technological developments. It includes preoperative assessment of cataract, surgical planning, post operative follow-up and management. Visual assessment following implantation of newer intraocular lenses is of special interest. Research into postoperative inflammation, anterior and posterior capsular behaviour and visual results is part of the program. |

Research has a high priority. The two major research projects underway involve the Central India Eye and Medical Study and the Nagpur Children’s Eye Study. The Central India Eye and Medical Study involve studying the prevalence of glaucoma, cataract and macular diseases.
